Katari Wilson is a Sicangu Lakota Woman. Married with a five year old daughter.
Her goal as an artist is to create something that will bring positive attention to the Native American Community.
Katari's main drawing style is, no-faced Native American Characters of all types, from teachers, to firefighters and mermaids. As well as 90s cartoon characters. She enjoys drawing them all as Native Americans. She calls this style "Native American Caricatures".
She was born, raised and still resided on the Rosebud Reservation. Her father is a hardworking man who use to work 2 jobs but still managed to teach Katari how to draw in his spare time. Her Mother, also very hardworking, has her BA in business. Her hard work inspired Katari to start her own business.
Katari named her business "Random Art By K. Wilson". She sells art pieces that she creates in the forms of T-shirts, post cards, greeting cards, vinyl stickers, and framed prints. She has also wrote and illustrated a series of Children's books called "The Adventures of Tyler" which features fictional and non-fictional adventures her toddler has taken.
In between personal projects Katari enjoys doing commission work which has included, greeting card designs, tshirt designs, logo designs, coloring and activities books, awareness posters and finally digital scenes for an online play.
I use many different mediums, such as pens, colored pencils, sharpies, acrylic paints, and a digital tablet. Working with one medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
My Native American Lakota Culture is my main inspiration. But also things that are happening around me as well such as a global pandemic, or memorial tributes to family and friends.
I also enjoy redrawing cartoon characters as Native American dancers.
